“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“When you’re engaging with Lindquist Mortuary, it means you’re going through a difficult time as a loved one has just passed away. We worked with the directors at Lindquist to prepare my Momma for her final trip back home to Virginia. The director, Mike Stuart, was always available and helped us with so many details at this end. He also coordinated her arrival with the funeral directors in Virginia. Having someone care so much really helped us navigate through this difficult time..I highly recommend Lindquist Mortuary and all their staff.”

“Worst experience, my father died and I am the executor or the estate and with my brother and sister did all the planning. My sister who had not visited my father the whole two years after my mother died insisted on having a viewing, my father did not want a viewing but because she wanted to see him we had one for her. I also paid for the funeral expenses that were over the budget my dad paid, I chose not to attend the viewing but had told my brother earlier that day that I would be at the grave side funeral which was scheduled for 11:30. My family went over to the cemetery at 10:59 we thought we were going to be early, we live two minutes away, but by the time we showed up they had my dads casket over on the stand, the 21 gun salute done, taps done and the flag folded and the funeral was over. No call from anyone asking where we were or to wait till me and my younger sister got there. I cried and cried. I really needed closure from the last two years. Very irresponsible for Lindquist even if my family had forgotten about us where was Lindquist to say “should we wait for your sisters to arrive” I was there when we plan the funeral why did Lindquist not wait for us??”

“I went to Lindquist after my dad passed away. They were so great to work with. They were caring and kind. Chris Cox was amazing to work with, he was always kind and responsive when I had any questions at all.”
