You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We recently held the funeral service for my wife and entrusted Bonney Watson Funeral Home with the arrangements. From the beginning, they treated her with dignity and care. Funeral Director Harley guided us with warmth and compassion, helping our family through every step of the process. She kept in close contact, informed us of all the details, and comforted us in our grief. The chapel service and cremation were handled seamlessly, and Harley even coordinated the interment at Tahoma National Cemetery for us. Mika also prepared the slideshow, printed programs, and service guides with great care, allowing us to focus on our family and our memories. On behalf of my family, I sincerely thank Bonney Watson Funeral Service, Harley, and Mika for their professionalism, kindness, and support. We are truly grateful and highly recommend their services.”

“Our family has trusted Bonney Watson for years, but this experience was deeply disappointing. What we were told in meetings didn’t match what actually happened, and communication was poor. We weren’t updated about major delays until we followed up ourselves. I understand staffing challenges, but grieving families deserve honesty and compassion. Sadly, this experience has broken our trust in a company we once highly respected. I truly hope no other family has to go through what we did. I do not recommend working directly with Bonney Watson, especially with Bri Hendricks when ordering your loved one’s stone, work directly with the stone company. Even reporting the experience to their president Laura Frampton in person did not make a difference. At the end of the day, there’s no integrity and they don’t care if you had a bad experience, as long as they get their money.”

“A whole bunch of broken promises. Used our vulnerability to take our money. Spent over 18k for the stone and was promised a time that it would be ready. In our Samoan culture, we celebrate the 1 year milestone of our loved one’s death. They said it would be ready a certain time. But here we are with no stone and no response on when it’ll be ready. Bonny Watson you make more than enough money from our Samoan families to treat us like this. 30+ years my family has been doing business with yall. I hope my Samoan folks after me don’t make the same Mistake. The ladies name was Brianna H. Who no longer works there now lol and Laura the president just beats around the bush and points fingers at lower level employees.”
