You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Update::::: Very unprofessional service. I am just leaving trying to get a death certificate corrected after my sisters services and leaving the honest review below. We were given the wrong death certificate and when we went back to get our deceased ones death certificate, the incorrect interment date was put on it. I inquired about the date because the death certificate and the certificate of authenticity does not match. I was told “my boss told me we’re not changing the date.” When I asked who the boss was the worker just walked away. I have never felt as disrespected before in my life. I am submitting a complaint to the state. This is not the way to handle customers who entrust their loved ones to be treated with respect whether your loved one chooses the top burial package or gets cremated. I will make sure that I send no more business to this place and hope that they be shut down. They are forgetting how they got where they are. The title professional needs to be taken out the business name. Previous review: Let me first say that the owner, Malcom Gibson is one of the most accommodating and empathetic people I know. I’ve known Malcom for a while and this review is not a representation of that. Malcom gave my mom a piece of knowledge that helped us out with our burial plot. He didn’t have to, but he did. This is the above and beyond service that keeps businesses in service…..knowing that it is your job, but actually doing it. My sister passed away suddenly. There was no doubt who would take care of her remains. We feel as though we can trust PFS, especially in a time when funeral homes are doing all kinds of things with corpses. Malcom has built a great staff but there are a few areas that need to be addressed. Compassion and how customers are treated is the main thing. Especially at a time where people are grieving a loved one. Emotions are high and a higher level of care should be implemented with families. We had a few issues, but ultimately I think people have a lot on their plate. We all are just trying to make it to the next day and most of the time you just have to call people on things, but respect is non negotiable. Once a problem is brought to your attention, the important thing is that it is handled, this applies personally and professionally. PFS were attentive and handled services for my sister in a way that she would have been happy with. We had a few rocky moments, but we will continue to use PFS for needs and for referrals.”

“Very arrogant and unpleasant staff. I strongly advise against using this company’s services. Most of the positive reviews seem fake. I went there in person, wanted to talk to the staff, but was completely ignored. An employee interrupted me in the middle of my sentence, saying he had to serve someone else. He acted like he was discriminating against me – instead of giving me three minutes of his time, he kept running back and forth, answering phones, and couldn’t even finish the conversation about the matter I came for. Terrible, extremely poor service. Zero professionalism. I do not recommend this place at all.”

“Sandra made a very difficult situation so smooth for us. She makes you feel like not just a client, but a good friend. She went above and beyond for our family and took such good care of our family member. She is so kind, has so much compassion and a perfect sense of humour. Honestly she really made this situation so comforting. Thank you Sandra and everyone at Professional Funeral Services. We are truly grateful for you.”
