You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Close friends of mine lost their beloved cat unexpectedly a couple weeks ago and I knew immediately to call the wonderful people at Trusted Journey Pet Memorial Services to see if they could help. Not only did they offer their services in a very fast manner, they also provided such thorough and compassionate advice and recommendations on how to navigate this difficult time. They made what was a very sad, and tough goodbye for my friends, into the most caring and thoughtful experience that left them feeling relieved, knowing their beautiful fur baby was well taken care of. I can't recommend Stephanie and her team enough!”

“They have been so kind, compassionate, and understanding of my grief during what has felt like the hardest time and like my heart is literally broken. I appreciate that they have not made me feel silly for having such a large emotional reaction to this loss and also understanding my requests and again not making me feel ridiculous while others might think it's just an animal because my dog was more than just that to me. Thank you for all that you offer our companions, therapy animals, furrbabies, service pets, etc. They ask for so little and yet give us so much in life that many don't realize and your team helps offer them that celebration they truly deserve.”

“"TRUSTED" in your business name is extremely misleading considering you cant even keep track of loved ones ashes! I missed a call yesterday (1/27/26) to come pick up my dogs ashes which is extremely traumatizing, SINCE I ALREADY PICKED UP HER ASHES A MONTH BEFORE WHEN THEY CALLED ME THE FIRST TIME!!! I called this morning to talk to someone there and once I informed them I already picked up my dogs ashes they were apologetic. I was told it was a clerical error and this isn't the first time this has happened. I do not blame the person I spoke with. She seemed deeply sorry. HOWEVER the fact this happened before doesn't make any of this feel less icky or traumatic. How can I trust I even received my dogs ashes a month ago when I can't even trust they can manage their own systems? Even if they had offered a refund it wouldn't make this situation any better. Im deeply sad, angry, unsettled, and distrustful of this entire situation. I am still grieving my best friend Millie adding this layer of trauma doesn't help me or my family grieve our best girl!”
