You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We went to the office on Saturday. 2/28 around 1:30 to ask for help in finding family graves. We started to walk away as the office had already closed. At that moment Adam opened the door and invited us in. He was very gracious with us, helping to locate the graves we wished to find. He even took the time to take us to one set of graves. After talking with him for a bit longer, we parted ways, knowing he had stayed longer than his normal time!! Now that is customer service! We very much enjoyed our visit, and say that Adam is a positive for the business!”

“My father and I had the most pleasant experience at Memorial Park Cemetery. We had some questions that they answered. They made several very helpfuil suggestions. Keith Comstock is the new general manager and Carla is the family service counselor. The Cemetery is looking so much better. Love the baby ducks.”

“My mother had purchased lots at Memorial Park Cemetery when my niece passed away in 1997, I lost my mother during Covid in 2021, then nine months later my younger brother. During the time my brother was ill, I had contacted Memorial Park to get arrangements started for my mother knowing due to Covid it would take time, mom was cremated but in the time it took for the Park to return my calls, my brother had passed in which I asked for two cremation urns. Mom did not want ashes spread so I made arrangements to bury her next to my niece. I failed to get a head stone or marker at the time arrangements were made, Cemetery stated the ground would be too frozen the stone to be placed and contact them in the spring. I contacted them in March, left several messages and it has been almost four years since my mother's death. Today my younger estranged sister informed me she went to the Park and received copies of all the paperwork from the Park, they never requested her ID for verification, just handed her paperwork, which clearly did not have her name referenced. I had provided the death certificate of my mom and brother, as they were the only names listed on the bill of sale. This act, along with the failure to get back to me, are very unsettling. I live out-of-state and cannot just 'pop" in to get things taken care of. They told my sister that they had no record of any calls for the marker on my mom's site and weren't sure she was even in one of the plots; they proceeded out to the plot, where they located her urn... what a joke!!! I recall them telling me that I could not get a refund on the plots (which I did not ask for); makes me wonder if other families had tried due to the poor service offered. 10/15/2025. Update- funny no one has contacted me, I left a message on Friday 10/10 with Carla at around 3pm, still have not received a call.”
