You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I seldom write reviews, but felt I must for Wah Wing Sang Funeral Home because of how much my family and I appreciated them when my mother passed. During this difficult time, the funeral director and his brother handled everything for us. They were kind, understanding, and responsive, even when I called several times in the middle of the night and had no clue about Chinese funeral traditions. They were accommodating and provided gentle guidance and assistance, from explaining Chinese funeral customs and presenting options for the funeral. With the loss of our beloved mother, our emotions were in turmoil so cost was far from our minds, but Wah Wing Sang offered us a very reasonable traditional Chinese funeral package. Everything was spelled out, and we were not pressured on what to select. My mother spoke only Chinese, my generation was not fluent, and our kids and grandkids understood little to no Chinese. Without us having to ask, the funeral director conducted the service in both Chinese and English. This inclusiveness made the traditional Chinese service more meaningful to us, and gave us a sense of closure. They did a nice job with my mother's makeup, and even helped us coordinate riders going to the cemetery. Their drivers were courteous and efficient. Their staff communicated with us effectively in English, and contacted the cemetery and monument company multiple times to help us ensure my mother's monument was completed in a timely manner. Thank you, Wah Wing Sang.”

“They were professional and supportive to our family prior to and during the funeral. We were fortunate to have worked with this team and we are grateful for the countless ways they helped us through a very difficult time. We don’t know much about the Chinese traditions and they were very helpful with that.”

“We received great service. It all happened at a difficult time of Chinese New Year and President's Day weekend. Even my Dad's head stone was in place earlier than expected. It was installed right before Father's Day. Wah Wing Sang was able to satisfy my traditional mother and mine and my siblings' ABC understanding. We are very grateful.”
