You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Our family had a very good experience working with Tom M. Wages (Snellville) Funeral home for the celebration of life service for my father. We were treated graciously with utmost care, attention and respect by Elliot, Kat, DJ, Marlena and Tina. They made themselves available whenever we needed to speak with them about the arrangements. They carefully guided us through everything that needed to be done. We felt well taken care of in every way. The building has a variety of comfortable parlors to hold family gatherings for the viewings, and a community dining room where we had a luncheon after our service for about 50 people. We also showed a slideshow in the chapel on the two smart TVs that are on the wall behind the podium. The chapel seats about 150-200 people and is attractive. We were pleased with how well everything went on the day of our father’s service.”

“My oldest son passed suddenly and unexpectedly 12-21-2025. We had to make funeral arrangements, and it was very difficult. My 2 other children and I had all attended several previous funeral services at Tom Wages in Snellville and they are very close to my home. We called and scheduled an appointment for the next day and worked with Elliott who was most helpful in assisting us in making all the decisions that had to be made. We received calls from them checking in and reminding us when they needed the necessary items from us to proceed with our schedule. I had to plan a previous funeral approximately 5 years ago, and I don't remember the experience being as easy as this one was with Tom Wages Funeral Service. The entire staff was caring, compassionate, personable and as difficult as the whole situation was, they made it as easy and pleasant as it could possibly be. We are all very thankful and appreciative for their services during this time. If you have the need for a funeral home, I highly recommend Tom Wages on Hwy 78 in Snellville, GA.”

“We were treated with so much kindness and respect. Michelle helped me through every phase of any paperwork that I needed to submit and/or complete. I can't thank them enough. Compassion and professionalism all the way around. Years ago Wages helped us with our mother's passing and I said then I would always remember their kindness. They have remained true to those standards.”
