You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Adam and his team (Chloe and another staff member) were incredibly helpful in getting my dad prepared to be transported from Sacramento to Vancouver, WA. They gave us the option to drive my dad home ourselves instead of having them personally deliver him, which saved our family over $2,000. The services we paid for—embalming and preparing him—were affordable, and their quote was better than what we received from surrounding funeral homes. Because my dad passed away at UC Davis, this location was close enough to make everything easier. It was also Christmas week, and there were no surprise holiday charges, which meant a lot to us during an already difficult time. For our situation, their pricing and flexibility were the best. We rented a Chrysler minivan from Enterprise for $115, and gas was about $100 total to drive back. If you’re willing to be in the same vehicle as your loved one, this can be a very good option. One recommendation: try to get your affairs organized 2–3 days before traveling. Renting a minivan was a little stressful because they book up quickly. Adam—thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this a smooth transition and for treating our family with such care. You truly felt like a guardian angel. ❤️”

“I have been meaning to write this sooner but better late than never. Adam, Chloe, and the rest were kind, caring and very sympathetic. From the time they picked up my uncle to the time we had the service they were very patient and worked with us on our time frames to make my uncles service was the best. I have been there before for other family funeral services but this was my first time I had the responsibility of arranging and planning it. Truth is Adam, Chloe, and team did all the work and made it easy on me. A big thanks from the entire family. Highly recommend.”

“Our experience with Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home was truly outstanding. The staff demonstrated exceptional compassion, respect, and professionalism throughout a complex situation. We had a Dignity Memorial contract, and while our religious services were held in Sacramento, the burial needed to take place in Florida. The team went above and beyond to coordinate seamlessly with the funeral home in Florida, ensuring everything aligned with our contract and values. Their support made a difficult time much more manageable. We highly recommend this funeral home to anyone seeking dignified and caring service.”
