“We just had my dad’s funeral yesterday and I am so pleased with all the hard work that Susan put in making this last week and a half not be such a nightmare like I was expecting. We laughed more than we thought and even when we didn’t have our stuff together, she only treated us with grace and kindness. The last two days I feel like my dad was honored so beautifully! My 14 year old son said today how it was actually fun at papa’s funeral last night. I know my dad would have loved it (especially riding in the Cadillac hurst!) We had my brothers wake at a different place 9 years ago, I just remember the dark musty smell and how sad it was, not much to remember. I feel like Susan (and the rest of the staff) went above and beyond to make it more of a celebration of a life well lived and not so sad, just like my dad would have wanted. He looked amazing as well! Mattson funeral home really took care of us when we lost the man who took care of us. We were lost and feeling overwhelmed, but once we were in contact with Susan, she not only talked to us about what was going to happen, but typed everything out which was so helpful when later on we couldn’t remember what was said with our head spinning. We knew to look at our sheet with everything she needed from us which was whatever we could find to best represent my dad. We dropped it off and they handled the rest. It was absolutely beautiful when we came at 4 for his service. Susan made sure to catch every little detail to make sure everything was handled with care and in a way to honor my dad. From putting out little soldiers for people to take to remember my dad to quietly and discreetly letting the two men at Fort Snelling (they were amazing veteran volunteers) who were folding the American flag that was covering my dads casket, they accidentally were folding it wrong. Susan just quickly whispered which way to do it that even my mom didn’t realize what happened! I will definitely be recommending Mattson’s funeral home from now on, not only for the catering and top notch care we received, but also with how beautiful it is inside too (the lakeside view isn’t too shabby either). Mattson’s funeral home really is the Cadillac of the other funeral homes.”
