You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“From planning to services to follow up, Taylor’s conducted everything with care, compassion and a spirit of excellence. Taylor’s was consistently outstanding in the funerals for my grandparents and my dad. I was walked through the process with clarity and so much heartfelt care. During such a difficult time, I highly recommend this funeral home. You will be treated with the utmost high level of service for all of your needs.”

“I recently visited Taylor Mortuary about a loved one, and although the staff in the front lobby were nice, the owners were not. While I waited in the front lobby to speak with the owners, I noticed how filthy (dirty) the sofa was, which was unprofessional like the owners. I wondered why anyone would want to do business with them.”

“I cannot express enough my gratitude for the ENTIRE staff at Taylor's. Mrs. Laquita is a real one. She treated my family and I with the upmost genuine care and concern with the passing of my only son. Taylor's took the time to stop and pray with and for my family and I when emotions started to wander into dark places. And for that alone showed Mrs. Laquita's truest vibe and nature. Her knowledge and experience in the funeral home industry made the process bearable. I truly appreciate the way she broke all costs down, even calling and comparing (on speaker) costs with other funeral homes that were cheaper. As a family, we all agreed that was the type of service we wanted. No hidden costs or surprise steps. The Taylor's took the time to call, text or email us to check in and see how we were doing. We chose Taylor's for being upfront and honest. The service prepared was nothing short of amazing. Taylor's found a way to incorporate each of our requests into the service. Also, I would like to mention that Pastor Gatewood did such a loving and thoughtful service as he officiated. Hopefully we won't have to use their services anytime soon but without a doubt Taylor's will be our only choice. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
