You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Ron and everyone at Beidelman-Kunsch are truly the best. Every step of the way they made what would have been a difficult time extremely positive, easy and welcoming. I can’t thank them enough for their help, guidance and professionalism in making our family feel like part of theirs.”

“Whenever a family is experiencing the loss of a loved one, it is imperative that you have a funeral home and director who can guide you and remind you of the decisions that need to be arranged and thought about. The compassion we received from this Beidelman-Kunsch was amazing. We were not pushed, rushed or in anyway coerced to do anything we didn’t want to do. He also brought up many important decisions and gave us our options along with the pros and cons of each choice. Ron K was flawless in keeping us informed and enlightened. My Mom was presented beautifully and she looked like she was in a very restful and peaceful sleep. We have great appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful services provided by Beidelman-Kunsch (Naperville, IL) on November 20, 2025. Family of Mary Ann Kozumplik”

“Warning: This may read like an essay, but even then, words can’t fully describe how grateful I am for every individual I encountered at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory. Where do I even begin? If I could give them five stars on top of the moon, sun, and galaxy, I absolutely would. The last time my family dealt with funeral arrangements was back in 2005, when I was a young child. This year, however, I lost two of the dearest people in my life—my mother in April and my brother in December. When my mother passed away in a facility, I was completely overwhelmed. The facility kept pressuring me to choose a funeral home, and in the state of mind I was in, I had no idea what I was doing or who I was supposed to call. After contacting a few other funeral homes and being quoted outrageous upfront costs just for pickup, I called Beidelman-Kunsch as a last option because they were close to home and I had heard good things when my neighbor’s son passed. That call changed everything. I first spoke with a representative who told me a director would be reaching out. Within minutes, Ron called me. From the very moment I spoke to him, I felt a sense of relief I can’t fully explain—it felt like everything was going to be okay. He calmly explained the process, answered my questions, asked a few of his own, and reassured me that the rest was taken care of. We scheduled an in-person meeting to go over service details and pricing. Within about an hour, the drivers arrived and even accommodated us by waiting so my other brothers could say their goodbyes. That alone meant the world to us. Their pricing was very affordable, with plenty of options to choose from. They allow families to be as hands-on as they want—I chose to create my own obituary, funeral cards, and posters, and they fully supported that. They are patient, compassionate, understanding, and never rushed us. I never once felt like we were just another transaction. Yes, it’s a business, but they truly lead with humanity. My mother looked so peaceful—so “normal.” On the day of the service, I believe John (who has a twin brother named Joe) was there, quietly working behind the scenes to make sure everything went smoothly. Then in early December, I unfortunately had to call them again when my older brother passed away. Having gone through the process already, I knew my loved one would be taken care of until the very end. My brother’s situation was more complex. He was disabled from a spinal cord injury in 2005 and was essentially quadriplegic, with very limited movement and a trache. I was extremely worried about how he would look. When I walked into the funeral home and saw him, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. He looked young again. He looked peaceful—like he was sleeping. It didn’t look like someone who had endured 20 years of hospitals, rehab, and struggle. They did an absolutely incredible job. Ron was there again, from start to finish—attentive, patient (my family can be a little wild), and always two steps ahead to make sure everything was perfect. A special shoutout to Shelley and, I believe, Justin as well. Honestly, everyone there is fantastic. Please remember that they are human too and carry a lot emotionally—kindness and understanding go a long way. To anyone reading this and looking for clarity during one of the hardest times of your life: they don’t teach you how to navigate loss, and it’s not easy. But Beidelman-Kunsch made an unbearable situation feel manageable. Long story short: 10/10 recommend. Best funeral home out there.”
