You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We recently held a celebration of life at the Cunnick Collins Life celebration Center. The former funeral home has been completely remodeled and it’s now very modern bright and welcoming Tracy Thuman event planner coordinated the entire event for us, and she did an absolutely awesome job. She was organized, compassionate, and attentive to every detail she made the entire process feel smooth and stress-free. The breakfast brunch provided was a comforting touch. It created a relaxed uplifting atmosphere where people could gather share. Memories and celebrate a life well lived. What’s also great about the center. It’s available for other types of events as well with its modern updates and welcoming, feel a truly versatile place for many kinds of gatherings. We’re so grateful for the care and kindness. We experience and highly recommend this beautiful space to anyone looking to host a meaningful event”

“One of the event planners reached out to me about participating in an upcoming animal-related event. I paid the required booth fee, but was later informed that the event had been canceled. I requested a refund at that time and was told it would be issued, but I have not received any follow-up or response despite multiple emails and phone calls. Unfortunately, this lack of communication has been very disappointing. I understand that the cancellation was due to one of the organizers expecting a child — and while I certainly wish them well — this is something that ideally should have been considered before collecting booth fees from vendors. Canceling the event and then failing to issue timely refunds is not acceptable or professional. I would appreciate a prompt resolution. I have emailed and emailed with no response to a request to get a refund for the show that they chose to reschedule because of a dog that’s going to have puppies, that’s fine. However, then you need to refund your vendors that can’t make your new date and you choose not to and instead choose to ignore my messages and requests. I have advised the individual putting on the show multiple times that we cannot make the due date because we were already booked a year in advance for another show in another town. If a host cancels a show, they are supposed to refund vendors!!”
