“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The director was so kind and understanding. She did an amazing job. However, it did seem a lot like a 'one man' show. I think the service would have flowed even better if they were fully staffed.”

“Blake was the funeral director for my mom’s funeral on June 14, 2025. I just can’t say enough good about her! Not only was she caring, kind and compassionate, she was a true professional and walked me through every step of the way. She definitely went over and beyond and I can’t thank her enough. Thank you so much for making very difficult day as peaceful and painless as possible.”

“My last experience with Valhalla Funeral Home which was April 11th-12th of 2025 was terrible. The day of the wake was a odd experience no guidance for the visitors. The day of the actual service was a disaster! We were asked how did the order of services was suppose to go, but mind you it was all bells and whistles when they was racking up on the prices for the arrangements. There was no obituaries handed out by any staff members. The staff members acted like we worked there and had to officiate every order of the service in which we found very stressful at a time of breaverance. They didn't communicate with the pallbearers effectively. We were not given the obituaries until we were at the grave site. Just not what you expect when you have paid out so much money for a service that they are responsible for handling in a manner that would be rememberable. So no this will not be a go to funeral home for any other family member of ours. They didn't have our best interest at heart only our wallets and didn't even bothered to compensate our family for there unprofessionalism at such time in our lives.”
