You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I want to share something that has been deeply upsetting for our family. My mother, Anne Clarke, was laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery on Friday, January 9th. When we returned the very next day to bring additional flowers and spend time at her gravesite, we were shocked and heartbroken to find that the floral arrangements placed there during her burial had been removed and discarded tossed 10 - 15 feet away from her grave. Not even 24 hours had passed. Those arrangements were purchased by us and generously donated by loving family and friends. Some still had her name tag attached. Our family spent well over a thousand dollars on flowers to honor her, but beyond the cost, it was the love and meaning behind them that mattered most. To see them thrown aside so quickly and without care was incredibly painful during an already devastating time. We expected a basic level of care, respect and dignity for all the dearly departed. One would hope that better respect would have been shown for the departed. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect that. I brought this to their attention shortly after it happened and so far no response to my email so hence this post. I sincerely hope no other family has to endure something like this during such a tender moment of grief.”

“The worst place i ever dealt with. When the lady named Rose whom i had great relationship retired the cemetery went to hell.My father has had plots in that cemetery for over 50 years. In 2020 i inquired about being interred there with my parents along with my wife.My funeral director assured me it would go smooth.with the transition he is there almost every day, if and when the time came.Unfortunately my parents left the two plots to me verbally only.Rosedale wanted a letter from my two sisters stating they wanted nothing to do with the plots.I had my sisters write letters and i forwarded them to Rosedale. Now comes the kicker. They wanted a 200.00 transfer fee, after i did all the work.I have seven relatives buried there. What a slap in the face.I am so glad i left crooked N.J.After all is said and done i want to make it easy on my wife and children if i pass on first. Cremation all the way.Plain and simple If you are ever left any plots make sure you get it in writing.Bye bye Jersey hello Fl.”

“We have a history of our family being buried at Rosedale and Rosehill. Grandparents, Mother, Brothers, Baby Niece, Uncles, Aunt and cousins. I now live in Florida and I just purchased my Niche at Rosehill. The people that work there have always been good to us.”
