You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I am grateful to McCullough Funeral Home. Losing a love one is not easy but their customer service makes it so much easier to get thru your pain. The whole Team was pleasant and very attentive to our needs. My family will alway connect with McCullough because they make you feel like they are your family in distressed times. I just want to say THANK YOU for EVERYTHING!”

“Losing a loved one is very difficult, but when it’s your spouse and you have to grieve while trying to take care of final arrangements it’s an even more difficult situation. This was the case for my cousin ( by marriage) when her husband, my cousin passed suddenly and unexpectedly. She made cremation and memorial service plans with McCullough staff, received a time for the service and paid her money. She proceeded to send out announcements and arrange for set up for the repass. At the last minute she was told they moved her time so they could insert another service. I guess they didn’t want to risk losing the money for another “customer”. This caused additional stress on the family, but especially his wife. This is only one of the unprofessional encounters my cousin had with them. I would NOT recommend them to handle a loved one’s final arrangements.”

“Losing a loved one is one of the most emotionally difficult times a person can go through. Unfortunately, my experience with McCullough Funeral & Cremation Services only added to the pain. I expected compassion, professionalism, and support, but I received the opposite. From the very beginning, communication was disorganized and frustrating. Important details were overlooked, phone calls went unanswered, and I had to follow up repeatedly just to get basic information. At a time when I was overwhelmed with grief, I also felt completely unsupported by the very people who were supposed to guide me through this process. There was a clear lack of empathy in nearly every interaction. The staff often came across as indifferent, and at times even dismissive. I felt like just a number, not a grieving family member seeking closure. To make matters worse, the urn we had specially ordered was delayed. Rather than communicate openly with us, they routinely avoided our calls, often sending us to voicemail once they recognized the number, or giving us the runaround when we did get through. We were also charged an additional $500 to use the kitchen area, which turned out to be nothing more than two moldy coolers and a picnic table—completely unacceptable and misleading. Furthermore, the location itself felt neglected and run-down. Instead of being a peaceful and respectful resting place, the grounds were poorly maintained, and we even saw broken glass scattered in the parking lot. It was deeply disheartening. This wasn’t just poor customer service—it was deeply disrespectful and unprofessional. I do not recommend McCullough Funeral & Cremation Services to anyone seeking compassionate and dignified care during such a vulnerable time. No one deserves to feel like an afterthought while saying goodbye to someone they love.”
