You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The wonderful team was amazing, during the most difficult time of my life. There were some oddities at the cemetery and they never left my side until the issue was completely resolved. The facility is beautiful, while the staff is professional and so kind.”

“In our darkest moments, Bunch & Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville became our guiding light. Their compassionate handling of my beloved son Liam Hugo Amezaga's arrangements touched our hearts deeply. At just 22 years old, Liam's passing left an immeasurable void, but their staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism, treating every aspect - from the preparation to the final cremation - with remarkable dignity and grace. Their genuine care shines through in every detail. The transfer of Liam's cremated remains was conducted with such tenderness and reverence that it brought comfort to our grieving hearts. What truly sets them apart is their inclusive approach - they serve every family with equal respect, regardless of background. Their fair pricing and flexible payment options show their understanding that grief comes unannounced. They guided us through each step with patience and expertise, making an unbearable situation more manageable. Looking back, I believe divine providence led us to them. For families facing life's most challenging moments, I wholeheartedly recommend Bunch & Johnson. They don't just provide a service - they offer genuine support, understanding, and dignity when you need it most. Their commitment to excellence and compassionate care makes them an invaluable pillar of our community.”

“The people at Bunch Johnson were very great to work with regarding my mother’s funeral. No complaints. My one suggestion is when we were determining how many Certificates of death needed (as executor) the suggestion sheet was too many. It suggested 13 and I purchased 15 to be safe. Truthfully when I was going to the various businesses that need a COD they all scanned and uploaded as a file. Truthfully I could have completed all I needed to do with just 3 or 4”
