You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Cannot express enough how disappointed I am with the service and atmosphere of Weaver-Hughes. Its tough enough to lose a loved one, but then to have a constant stream of misinformation and poor communication was the cherry on top. We would ask multiple times and confirm the location of a meeting and then it be at the other location 20 minutes away multiple times. They shipped my loved ones ashes across the country with a huge added fee. Which they did tell us about but the $400 for shipping was really only 130ish on the postage clearly printed on the box. SO an upcharge of almost $300 just to put it in a USPS box and mail it? No added documentation or anything like that oh and they didn't put the correct address down so the ashes could have gotten lost but thankfully they didn't. When confronted about it, the representative said "oh well that's what the USPS does when they print the label" Dude I've shipped plenty of things through the USPS an they always have you look at the address and confirm so please don't boldface lie to me. Beyond that, there was some I'll say hygiene issues. Everyone is entitled to live their lives as they see fit but when I am struggling with the loss of a loved one, being greeted by a representative that reeks of cigarette smoke really just lets you know your at a crematorium I guess. Overall, I would chose any other mortuary place if I had to do it over. They were decent with the body for a private viewing but I can't imagine any other place wouldn't be similar and to remove the headache and anxiety they caused would be well worth it even if another place was a few hundred to thousand more. Save yourself the added stress and go somewhere else.”

“Weaver Hughes Provided an outstanding service for my mother Nancy! Everything from start to finish was streamlined and they took great care organizing everything the way our family wanted. We were guided through the process by Carey and she did an amazing job, Beautiful building as well!”

“Kindness and compassion were well demonstrated by staff. My family and I received exceptional service in honoring our son who passed, as well as help to reduce the potential financial burden. The facilities provided an environment in which Jesus Christ could be honored, which as a Christian I am thankful for. I would have no problem recommending their services to someone else based on the good experience my family and I had based on the loss of my son, and the care and sensitivity shown. I have great hope that he is in Heaven, and I will one day see him again with tremendous joy in the presence of Jesus.”
