You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“First, let me say the owner is nice ( I prefer competent over nice when you need a job done) however the professionalism of this establishment needs improvement. Maybe this review will help them improve how they do business. I am writing this review for others because this is a stressful time and you need to know what level of service you will receive. When the body was picked up by young women they entered the home not professional dressed and not wearing masked and had to be instructed to put on a mask (we are in a pandemic) not by the owner who was at the home but by a family member. At the first meeting with the family, the funeral home did not share a packet of information that clearly stated what their process is it was not until the day before viewing they shared a checklist of all elements. It would be helpful to share this checklist or protocols with the family at the initial meeting so they know what needs the process entails. Secondly, a viewing was scheduled on Sunday but a time was never given to the family. We never received a call or communication from their office. Our event coordinator had to call to confirm a time the day before. If we had not contacted them were they going to reach out to us ? Who knows. Once we arrived to view the body the coloring was off and he had not been shaved in addition to other things that had to be tweaked. In fact, they had to call the embalmer back and a family member had to go back to make sure those adjustments were made. Not to mention his suit had lint on it and they mentioned they would take care of it. I would like to think for the viewing with the family you want to make sure the body and clothing were as perfect as possible. Once at the church the event coordinator had to rearrange the flowers on-site because of how they were placed. In closing do your research before you choose a funeral home and make sure they can meet your expectations for your loved one. This is an extremely difficult time and you want to make sure your loved ones are in the hands of experts who can meet your expectation. I did not have the chance to choose this facility but for those who do - do your homework, ask questions and demand information in writing. In short they are not ready for prime time. If you are looking for professional top notch service this is not the place. I now understand why so many had questions on why they were chosen to handle my fathers body.”

“Very compassionate and patient. While being very cordial and thorough during the handling of our affairs. And the most important thing was how good they made my Son look...which meant the world to me.”
