You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I want to share my experience so other families can be better informed during such a difficult time. The first thing to know is that this funeral home is located inside a warehouse in a commercial/industrial area. Unfortunately, this is not something that is made clear upfront. When you are going through the process of arranging a funeral, your mind is overwhelmed and moving a thousand miles per minute. You don’t have the time or clarity to scroll through every photo on a website to understand exactly where the place is located. The first images online make it appear like a traditional funeral home, but when you arrive, the surroundings are very different from what you might expect. The inside of the facility is not that bad, but the outside location and the area where it is situated do not feel appropriate for such a sensitive and emotional moment. The surroundings are commercial and not very clean, which adds unnecessary stress during an already painful time. What disappointed me the most is that this was never clearly communicated when I made the payment and started the process. After completing everything, I had to cancel and make arrangements elsewhere because the location simply did not feel right for my family. I believe they should be transparent from the beginning about where the facility is located, so families can make an informed decision before committing during such a vulnerable moment. I hope this review helps others be aware and ask the right questions before proceeding.”

“I am truly grateful for the compassionate and professional care provided by Arcelays Funeral Home and Crematorium back in January during a difficult time for my family. From the moment we reached out, their team showed genuine kindness, understanding, and respect for my stepfather's memory. They handled the process of preserving and returning his ashes with utmost care and dignity, making what could have been an overwhelming experience much easier for us. Their attention to detail, transparency, and empathetic communication reassured us every step of the way. It’s clear that they genuinely care about the families they serve, and that compassion shines through in their work. We are thankful for their support during such a sensitive time, and we highly recommend Arcelays Funeral Home and Crematorium to anyone seeking respectful and heartfelt service. Their dedication truly made a difference in our healing process, and for that, we are forever grateful.”

“If I could give a zero I would. I googled this place because it advertised a cheap cremation. I suggested it to a family who was grieving the loss of their father and had no prior arrangements made. I spoke to a man named Andres and he really sounded shady. He has no tact for dealing with grieving people. He’s definitely in the wrong business. Luckily, the family decided to go with a reputable place once they heard him open his mouth. Any good reviews don’t believe. Horrible customer service.”
