You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Joann was absolutely amazing! She has a wonderful gift of kindness and a great personality, she treated us with genuine love and respect that we appreciated and needed so much during our time of loss. We felt she truly cared about us and our family, made sure we understood everything, we did NOT feel taken advantage of and walked with us every step of the way. During our time of loss she made our grief experience the least stressful it could be, for that we are so grateful! Thankful for the rest of the staff that helped as well, Madison, Alonzo and Joe.”

“I recently had a death and reached out to this funeral home in the late hours. I was lucky to have had such a positive experience with a staff that care 100% for family. The funeral manager, Joann, made things easy and was compassionate and caring to our entire family. She allowed us to spend as much time as needed with our brother, and made a perfect obituary as well as gave us things to help us move forward with the VA. If our family can ever recommend anyone to sit with, it would be her and her funeral staff.”

“Horrible horrible horrible. Better service on the black market. Ive never seen a more shady, greedy, selfish, unprofessional company in my entire life. Joanne or however you spell her name, is the worst at her job. The lack of emotion, empathy and professionalism in her just blows my mind. Ive read multiple reviews on this company and I am astonished at how she still has her job. She tried to sell stuff that literally made no sense and when the answer was NO she would guilt you and make you feel so low till you gave in! She spoke harsh, quick answers, took multiple calls which interrupted MY TIME! She was more worried about her weekend than helping me. She acted like i was just a number and not a person. Then she had the audacity to stop mid conversation to ask me " am I really going to be able to afford anything "!!!!!! Who does that, who on God's green earth is allowing this Horrible woman to be around anyone who's grieving? I will make it my life goal to tell every living soul I know, meet, talk to or pass to not choose this horrendous company! Shame on every single one of yall!”
