“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Not necessarily a happy review to be writing, but I do want to give the Dawn Valley Chapel's staff mine and my family's appreciation for the kindness and compassion they showed as we navigate the funeral process for my dad. It's the first time for my family, so it can be overwhelming. I went to decorate the space the day before service and had some of the most helpful staff there. They also allow for our cultural service without judgements. Overall, very respectful, helpful, flexible, and compassionate team.”

“Both my parents had paid years ago for their services. My mother passed away first and everything went smoothly. But my father passed away just a few years ago now and the service went alright although when it came time to have his burial service at the cemetery with honor guards. Washburn-McCrivy could not find my father and lost him so the service had to go on without him. My father missed his own funeral. We have many family and friends there for it. The entire thing was such a disaster and disappointment on something that my parents had paid for years ago.”

“My mom and dad purchased plots from Dawn Valley from a door to door salesman in 1971. It seems that was their preferred method of shopping back then as I have the dictionaries, encyclopedias and brushes to prove it. Lol. They purchased based on location as it was near Bush Lake, which was a center point of fun activities we were doing as a family during the time. I imagine they also chose DV, because it is beautiful, tranquil, and surrounded by nature. This review is based on my mom’s funeral last week. Planning a funeral is no fun. It’s overwhelming, because of the timing and the unknowns. I can say without hesitation that my parents chose well. The staff of Dawn Valley was amazing. They made the process easy, smooth, and stress free. We feared pressure sales. Never did this happen and it was made clear throughout the process they would work with us and it would be perfect. The funeral itself was beautifully done. They chose a wonderful minister, who despite never meeting my mom made us feel like they knew each other. All in all, for a hard thing to go through they made it seamless and stress free. The perfect day for a immensely loved and missed mom. Thank you, Dawn Valley!”
