“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The process of having my mother's funeral went so very smooth. Benjamin was so professional, but more importantly he was a very caring individual. I have never seen an individual who was so concerned that he had done everything to make my mother look her best. He was always available during the calling to make sure that we were taken care of as well. Thank you, Benjamin, for taking great care of us.”

“I just want to say that everything was very wonderful from beginning to end on how this facility handled my husband's cremation. We had an open casket viewing as well and all went very well. I was so pleased. Ben was very kind and nice. Met all my expectations. The price was reasonable as well. The only thing I would say is and this is just my suggestion to the staff. I would remove that wall unit where the tv is. (Not tht its not beautiful because it is) but I'd remove it and the tv because tht tv is just too small in my opinion. Id put on the wall a huge 80 or 90 inch tv. Then underneath it if theres room you could place a long piece of furniture and actually that could be used for ppl to place photos of the deceased if they wanted to. If not have a floral arrangement sitting there. That way everyone, even people sitting in the very back of that room can see the video because the way it is only a few people at a time can view it and there's only 2 chairs right there in front of it or you must stand and theres not alot of room right there. Thats the only thing I would change. Your tv is too small. Other than that it was great!”

“Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Jessen Funeral Home for the outstanding care, compassion, and professionalism shown during the preparation for repatriating our loved one back to Botswana. Losing a loved one far away from home is emotionally overwhelming, but the support we received made a difficult situation much easier to bear. The Funeral Director and his staff walked with us with patience, dignity, and kindness—never rushing ensuring every detail was handled with respect. Their communication was clear, their service was thoughtful, and their compassion was genuine. We could truly feel that this was not just a job to them, but a calling. We deeply appreciate the respect shown throughout the entire process. Thank you, Jessen Funeral Home, for honoring her life and helping us navigate such a painful season with grace. We are forever grateful. Dineo Mogwe-Mulwale”
