You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“There are no words to express how fortunate we are to have such a compassionate and caring person to take care of our needs when we face the loss of a beloved family member. It is a true blessing and it is just so comforting beyond words to express our gratitude. Phil makes the hardest moment we all dread to experience one day just seem so natural as it should be but with loads of love that just flow and glow from his mere presence. Thank you 🙏🏼 for everything Phil.”

“I've had the unfortunate experience of arranging 3 funerals that happened 2 years apart from each other. All three were arranged at this funeral home. I became a repeat customer because Phil, the owner, is very professional, patient, and understanding. I recall calling once at 11pm after a relative had passed at his own home. Emergency services left and Phil sent someone over in professional attire to transport my relative to the funeral home. An appointment was made to meet the next day to begin the funeral arrangements. Also, he gets countless Hispanic customers and knows the traditional arrangements of that community, including transportation arrangements to another country. Phil has a casket and headstone display room, which you can order through him. His prices are very reasonable and doesn't push you to order anything. Last time I was there, he had no problem with customers ordering a casket or headstone elsewhere. I will say that his prices are more or less the same as online prices. As for reserving a burial plot, that is a separate process. You'll have to visit the cemetery of your choosing, ask to speak with whoever is in charge there, and tell them that you need to make burial arrangements. You'll have to pay for a burial plot, as well. Cemetery and funeral home will communicate to coordinate. Remember there will be 2 separate expenses: Funeral home service and burial plot (this is how it is everywhere, unless the funeral somehow owns the cemetery, too). I've personally heard from others that Phil has been put in unexpected challenging arrangement situations, and has always pulled through.”
