You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I Highly Recommend, Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford GA My family and I have used Flanigan Funeral Hone numerous times (ex. Husband, Father, Mother, Brother in law, nephew, great nephew, several aunts and Uncle, cousins, friends). Mr Flanigan and his staff have always been excellent to deal with at such a difficult time. Unlike some funeral homes Flanigan's seems to be more comforting than most. I think this due to their caring and compassionate nature and commitment to the service they provide. Thank you!”

“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME! Please take the time to read this. My mother passed away in the beginning of this week unfortunately and i have never in my life been responsible for planning a funeral, so i had no idea what i was doing and was seeking guidance from Flanigan. Anyway my mother was in Taccoa but i reside here in Buford. The coroner advised me to find a funeral home and he would send her there and he suggested Flanigan (worst recommendation). I spoke with Flanigan funeral home and explained that i did not have all the funds to cover all the costs and asked if they had any payment plans or any options that could help me. They said yes so i allowed them to go pick up my mother. After they had custody of my mother they told me to come in and sign paperwork. Mr. Flanigan had me go through all the paperwork, but i noticed he still hasnt said anything about payment. I asked him what they could do to help me and he told me nothing. he was gonna have me sign all the paperwork before telling me ther was NOTHING they could do to help with payment. Luckily i asked right before i signed the important form. He was very inconsiderate and insensitive and asked me if i could start a go fund me or even PUT IT ON MY DECEASED MOTHERS CREDIT CARD because "they have to get paid" he says. I walked out and went and found Crowell Brothers Funeral Home and they have been amazing! Bradley and Sam have walked me through the entire process and helped me get the financial assistance that i needed. When I went to Flanigan to sign the transfer form , I asked him "is there anything else? Are we good?" and he crossed his arms and rolled his eyes and said "i guess" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME! THEY ARE INCONSIDERATE AND INSENSITIVE. PLEASE USE CROWELL BROTHERS INSTEAD!”
