“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”

“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.

Know Your Rights

“On yesterday (July 1, 2025), I attended a funeral that was handled by Harrell's Funeral Home. The service provided by the funeral home was a CATASTROPHE, DEBACLE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNORGANIZED for the following reasons: ***No Registry Book - although the following day the owner (Sidney) of the funeral home stated the registry was not brought to the church. ***No Funeral Home Staff Member was not inside of the church during the viewing before the service started. The only employee from the funeral present before the rest of the staff arrived remained outside conversating with others in the parking lot and talking on cell phone. The funeral home attendants and owner (Sidney) arrived at the church a few minutes before the scheduled service. The service was scheduled to begin at 2 pm but did not begin the service on time. ****The processional was a COMPLETE DISASTER. It was not coordinated by the next of kin. Also, the pallbearers were seated on the wrong side of the church which was the left side of the church on the first and second pews facing the head of the casket instead of being seated on the opposite side (right). ****Before the service began, two law enforcement officers had been directed to sit on the first pew (before the service started) where the family members were to seat but was asked by a VISITOR to sit in another section. ****During the invocation, the funeral home staff were passing out programs to EVERYONE including the persons in the pulpit. The persons in the pulpit did not have a program prior to the start of the service. SMH! ****The location of the service was TOO SMALL to accommodate the audience. IT WAS DEFINITELY A FIRE HAZARD!! SIDNEY (owner) learn how to accept CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! IF I COULD HAVE RATED THIS BUSINESS WITH ZERO STAR TO SUBMIT MY REVIEW, I WOULD HAVE WITHOUT A DOUBT! THE SERVICE RENDERED BY THE FUNERAL HOME STAFF WAS THE WORST I HAVE ATTENDED AND OBSERVED IN MY LIFE!”
