You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My brother passed away in September of 2025 and his wish was to be buried next to my other brother. We were blessed to have one of the funeral arrangers Yesenia H. assist with everything including taking the time to meet with me in person and not on a remote call. After the arrangements were finalized and also meeting the cemetery arranger Jorge we felt a complete assurance and trust overcome us. The funeral service was very nice, the way the set up was felt more intimate, homely, typically services are sad and everyone just seated in rows, this was different, although we opted to have just a viewing with no actual Eulogy or anyone speaking it was the perfect setting for us to mourn and see my brother one last time. No upselling no pressure just pure understanding and love by all the staff. Thank you for everything and for taking care of how beautiful the cemetery is. Common areas were nice as well, a cafe style area was neatly decorated and just perfect. I’m glad my brothers are resting in a beautiful cemetery up on that high hill in which I see from the freeway. It’s beautiful.”

“I visited my Dad's grave site today. I was discussed to see the condition of the cemetery. You talk about neglect. The people that run the facilities should be ashamed of themselves. How can they allow this to happen? I'll be going back to the cemetery tomorrow to clean up a few veterans gravesites.”

“My mother and two of my brothers are buried here, and they charge for a maintenance fee. Every time I have gone the headstones are VERY dirty and i have ended up having to take things to clean them every time I go!! this isn't right and is NOT proper care of the loved ones that are there. Also around October we began paying a new lot for my father, originally the payments were going to be around 125 a month, but we had come to an agreement that we would be able to pay it at our pace so long as the payments were no more than 3 months apart, and as long as it was payed in full in 3 years, the last payment we made was $1000 December, and a similar sum when we began, here we are on February getting a call threatening to cancel our purchase with no chance of refund because apparently they don't do things that way!! What type of person makes is in charge of this place that they don't maintain their grounds properly and threatens to make us loose an investment when there was an agreement and if were summed up in its worth of monthly payments, it has been obviously overpaid to date!!”
