You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. Should be negative stars. We had my father in laws funeral done through the Tomball location. BIG MISTAKE. We sat down with Chauntel to arrange.everything well after handing her a check we had to do the calling to her to make sure everything was set. It was one wrong thing after another. She was told we wanted two flags and we were told that would happen. Then on the day of the viewing we found out they couldn't do that. That is strange because I had three at my dad's funeral at this location. I had to go buy one which was not a problem We told her we would like a honor guard since he was a WORLD WAR II VETERAN. Well I was told she finally got it only problem it turn out that the playing of the taps was done by my wife's brother and trust me it was the worst I have ever heard. He never served a day of his life in the Military so to most of us that was not a true honor guard. They also tried to give one of the flags to the wrong person after I had pointed out the one just five minutes earlier. Way to go Klein funeral home with disrespecting a World War II veteranI i hope your proud. Now remember she was told no changes could be made without going through my wife. I talked to Steve this morning and that was a big waste of my time because he really didn't care at all he probably wasn't even listening to me. He is RUDE and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Must work off commission because he really doesn't care. JUST DIDN'T CARE AT ALL. All he could say is they have no control over that. Sounds like you have no control over anything. From the looks of the reviews a lot feel the same way. Your employee set it up. This place has gone so COMMERICAL now it is all about the MONEY. Making as much as possible when people are going through a sad time. MONEY HUNGRY. They have totally forgotten how they started. Also to top things off Chauntel was off on the day of the funeral. Here again why wasn't we told from day one that she would be off so we could work with someone that would be there the day of the funeral. I could go on an on but I will just get more upset than I am now. ALL I CAN SAY IS WAY TO DISRESPECT A WORLD WAR II VETERAN KLEIN FUNERAL HOME. DON'T WASTE MY TIME WITH A GENERIC REPLY THAT YOU REALLY DON'T MEAN. I GET IT YOU DON'T CARE BECAUSE THE FUNERAL IS OVER AND YOU HAVE ALREADY CASHED THE CHECK. THE ONLY THING YOU GOT RIGHT WAS DISRESPECTING THIS WORLD WAR II VETERAN. IF ONE OF THE KLEIN FAMILY MEMBERS CARES PLEASE CALL ME I WOULD LOVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS. CHAUNTEL HAS MY NUMBER”

“These people need to be ASHAMED of themselves. A friend called for cremation service and she was quoted $3900 because her mom was deceased in the hospital. We called another crematory and was told the total would be under $900 even for the extra death certificates. A THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS difference. Shame that even when a loved one dies there are people that will rip you off while you grieve. Avoid this place!!”

“My mother-in-law passed last March and unfortunately, her wishes were to be buried at Klein to be near family for visiting. The purpose of this review is to let you know how disappointing their service is, even 10 months later, even though they charge top dollar ($22,000) As if they are a top of the line service. Her three children with their spouses, myself included, and my father in law collectively chose and paid for everything to honor her wishes. Days later at her viewing, her son noticed that they placed her in the wrong casket so she had to be switched out. When it came to ordering her headstone, we were informed that nothing can be placed for 6 to 7 months because the ground needs to settle. Makes sense, So seven months later we start the ordering process. However, we were never told that the turnaround time once ordered is another six months. When I called to inquire about this today, I was told that I shouldn’t be spoken to because I’m not on the contract and I’m not blood related, and that I was being rude and combative because I wanted clarification on why we were never told about the six month turnaround. Scott said they sent a letter that “suggests” we order within 30 days, but my sister-in-law said she never received that letter. Three months ago when I was there with my sister-in-law to design the headstone, we were never told that it would be a six month turnaround. We finally paid for the headstone on December 10 and it took until January 3 to get a digital viewing of the same mock up that we did in less than an hour at the funeral home and now we are being told that the six month turnaround time starts once the image has been approved. so now the six month timeframe starts January 3 even though it took them three weeks to send a digital mock up. I made the phone call today so my sister-in-law didn’t have to deal with it cause she still has a hard time, but instead of handling the matter with compassion I was questioned as to why we took so long to order, like we were in the wrong, not once acknowledging that information wasn’t giving to us, just denial saying that there’s no way he gave us incorrect information, and that we needed to speak to the funeral director, but also that I can’t handle it because I’m not on the contract and I’m not blood related, which is a pretty disgusting thing to say to someone who lost their mother-in-law of 22 years. Of course, when I called I was frustrated because this is the first we learned about a six month turnaround and because I ask a question for clarification I’m being combative and rude?? which then turns into all of these other points, instead of just simply acknowledging that they messed up, just like they messed up with the casket at her viewing. If it all possible, just avoid Klein because they only let you order from one headstone company, and the only person that handles it is Scott and he is the one who was disgustingly unapologetic and insincere because he’s perfect. He would never give incomplete information so someone else must have told us incomplete information or the SEVEN of us just didn’t hear it, and even when you go back to order the headstone the info is still not given. So when something goes wrong, it’s gonna be your fault not theirs and especially not Scott’s. I was there when we set up and paid for the whole service. I was there when only me and my sister in law designed the headstone and signed it for approval. And I have the email exchanges between Scott and my sister-in-law and not once did he say it takes six months for the stone to be manufactured and installed AFTER approving the design. The only timeframe given was the 6 to 7 month wait period for the ground to settle. Also keep in mind that you have to pay for the stone first before they send you the final stone design for approval. Then they have you print the photo out and sign it as approved AND THEN the sixth month manufacturing period begins.”
