You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Facilities are great. We had been members and were in the system and waited for an hour in line to get in the pool and never did. Didn’t even need to do forms. There were two people on staff and one just refused to help the other so one person was trying to check in everyone and it was so slow and inefficient. They didn’t care to help or let us in - but we have three young kids all who were pretty upset it don’t work out. So can’t recommend it at all as it’s not really serious about helping people enjoy the space.”

“When the competition pool is available, it’s great. But this pool is constantly being rented out to multiple swim teams, especially from November through February. I can barely use it those months. AND pool hours are constantly subject to change without any notice because they rent it out at every opportunity. Whoever manages the pools should be upfront about availability to annual members who are interested in swimming laps. You’re basically paying for the Kroc to rent it out.”

“I’ve been trying to book a birthday party for my 5-year-old daughter at this venue for several weeks now, starting back in early August. She was incredibly excited about the idea of having her party at the water park, and I’ve made every effort to secure a date—calling and emailing almost daily. I was initially told that the event coordinator was out sick, which I completely understand—life happens. However, I was eventually in contact with the director, Carmetta, and the experience was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of offering assistance or an alternative solution, she was dismissive and rude, telling me it wasn't her fault the coordinator was out and even suggested I "look into other venue options." I followed up via email, hoping for a more helpful response, but I received no reply at all. At this point, more than 60 days have passed since I began trying to book this party. Even accounting for staff absence, that’s far too long for any business to leave a customer without proper support—especially when it involves a child’s special day. I’m extremely disappointed with how this was handled. My daughter was so looking forward to this party, and it’s heartbreaking to have to scramble for a new plan so close to the date. I expected much better communication and professionalism from a family-oriented business.”
