You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We thought my dad's gravesite was vandalized. Someone had clipped zip ties that's attached signs and guitar to the hook. Upon inspection, there were tire prints across headstone and it was sunk into the ground. We realized it was the actual cemetary workers who trashed the grave while burying someone in a grave 2 sites down. Jason in the office is an absolute RUDE, CALLOUS, UNSYMPATHETIC, UNCARING individual. He should be ashamed of how he treated my 60+ year old mother. Ordering her into a room. Getting into her car with no permission and expecting her to drive him to gravesite--UNACCEPTABLE. He then stood at dads grave ordering her to remove decorations from the hook. Saying nothing is permitted to be hung on the hook we paid $1400.00 for. Also stating the cemetary would NOT fix the headstone they WRECKED because it was not purchased from them. Signs that were ripped off post and broken? All Well. JASON is a absolute ZERO on customer service or RESPECT FOR THE DEAD or FELLOW HUMANS. We keep my father's gravesite looking Beautiful. Decorated for all seasons. Eye appeasing. It is part of the beauty of this cemetary. B4/After Pics for proof. Do NOT get buried in this place. Crumbling roads. No water. Services who mow the lawn and staff frequently trash gravesites. Zero respect for our lost loved ones.”

“Great service and outstanding personal care towards making the memorial for my late brother Keith. Carolyn and Jason made the process so easy and smooth. Would recommend them to anyone looking to get their cemetery arrangements completed. Generations of my family call Flint Memorial Park their forever home. Highly recommended.”

“I have lived in Flint all my life. Flint Memorial Park is where most of my family are buried going back to my great grandparents. Yes, the cemetery is struggling to meet everyone's expectations. But it has improved recently from what I remember. I don't know why the grass isn't always maintained as it should be (like for Mother's Day) or why the roads are in such bad shape. My hope is that they continue to improve because this place is sacred to us. Maybe they could get a grant or ask for monetary gifts to be used only for maintaining the park. This is where my wife and I will be buried so I am hoping for the best for Flint Memorial Park.”
