You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“If I could give 100 out of 5 stars, I would. My father died in a house fire, it was like a million things fell out of the sky and became my responsibility. I never knew how much was involved when someone passed, but because of Tucson Cremation Services it felt like I didn't need to worry about ANY of it. Meagan handled my case, and she is the sweetest person I've ever met in my life, she made every step so easy—even down to the legal complexities! (It was a very, very complicated situation. But again, I didn't have to worry about it.) Everyone that I met in office was professional and wonderful, and they all still got me to smile because they're, again, incredibly sweet. I paid extra to ensure my father came almost 100 miles to this location, and I'm so thankful that I did. Once it was in their hands it was a burden off my shoulders, and I will forever remember how dang EASY they made everything in the aftermath of a very traumatic event. Thank you everyone who works here, you're all awesome!”

“I took my dog Stella to get cremated, I considered her family.I’ll start with the good, they did a good job at first. They were very respectful and kind throughout the intake process. However when I went to pick Stella ashes, the manager confused her with another dog (Estella) so I almost got the wrong urn back. I can totally understand that, it’s an honest to confuse the two names. However when they gave me Stella urn they gave a different one that we didn’t pick out. I brought it to the managers attention since she was the only one working and she said no that’s the right one. We have you down for that one. I told her that’s not the one we choose and paid for. She said that’s the one I paid for and if I wanted the other one it would be more 60-70 dollars or so. I told her I shouldn’t have to pay more for a mistake on their end. She basically said you get what you payed for, even though this was a mistake on there end. I asked to speak with the manager and she said she was the manager. I told her you are a manager then you need to make this right. Your asking me to pay more for a mistake that you guys made, not only that but now that my Stella is finally resting, your going to open her urns to transfer them. To me that not consideren or compassionate at all. They have good reviews and they probably earned it. This is my review and they definitely earned it”

“My husbands father passed away in January of 2023. He was cremated by Tucson Cremation Services. We made payment as we could, but just didn’t have the money to pay for the ashes to be shipped. We live in California and finances are tight so we had a hard time paying for the shipping, so they stored the remains. In May of 2024, they decided to ship the remains to us at no cost. They have always worked with us since day one, money was never their main concern. They have genuine compassion. I cannot recommend them enough. From the bottom of our hearts we thank each and every member of your staff.”
