“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Do NOT trust your loved one with this funeral home!!!! The way they did my daddy is beyond dreadful. My beloved father passed away 7 months ago!! In June. We paid a lot of money to this funeral home only for them to "lose or misplace" his headstone. We live in Atlanta but my dad's family resides in Selma. We came down in December for his birthday celebration only to find out that his headstone was never placed down. We called several times only to be told that it was already placed but clearly it wasn't. They lied numerous times. All I wanted was for my dad's headstone to be placed on HIS grave and I called to see what they would do for the inconvenience. The OWNER HIMSELF told me that he would just refund me my money and I would have to find someone else to get a headstone from. Had I known prior that they would treat families like this, I would have never trusted them with my father. I've heard about funeral homes only caring about the money and not the care and concerns of family members but I would've never thought it would happen to my family after losing the greatest man in my life! It's hard grieving as it is, but to also worry about someone using and abusing a loved one after they've passed on is disturbing. You have been warned! Find someone with a better rating to care for your loved one. They smile in your face when it's time to pay. But after that, they can careless... they have a "business" to run.”

“This is the most distasteful funeral home ever. Losing a loved one is already a horrible feeling but having to go back and forth with a funeral home staff trying to see where your Uncle tombstone at when they swear up and down it’s there and it’s not. We stay in Atlanta and they have been telling us for months that it’s on his grave when the picture below clearly shows it not. So how many other families they are lying too? They put his tombstone on another person grave and told us they will refund us and we have to find someone else to get the tombstone like we really will trust them again. Learn from our mistakes do not trust them they made so many errors they had to fix the death certificate as well. This just made the grieving process worse for us sad enough that our love one is gone and this funeral home staff didn’t show us no compassion or remorse for their errors. Please stay away!”
