Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.

“Last year, my dad died unexpectedly. I was so relieved with the recommendation for this funeral home because of the positive reviews on Google. Janell ignored me when I arrived to discuss things about his services, walking by me several times and when it was my appointment time she didn’t introduce herself. I figured her name out from googling. She was dismissive about my questions regarding my father. I expected an empathetic and kind staff who deals with death often to be helpful...but when I tried to ask about arrangements and timelines, she uncaringly referred to the length of time my dad had been dead referring to his decomposition. This was an unnecessary response to what I had asked. I have never dealt with a death or arrangements and every question I asked to gain understanding was met with condescension. I had selected this funeral home for the reviews stating they were compassionate and caring with death but it wasn’t my experience. The only thing I can say good about their services is the beautiful casket.”
