You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“To bury your mother is a hard thing to do.I believe by every word of the Bible, therefore I believe my mother is at her rest. I wanted her headstone to represent her life on this earth and her life to come with Jesus. Brent and the staff at Cypress Granite gave my mother and me that. Brent spent over 2 hours with me designing her headstone. He listened to me about what I wanted my mother's headstone to represent. Brent knew I wanted the headstone by her second anniversary of my mother's death and it was delivered on her anniversary date. The headstone was so beautiful that I cried and I cried because until my mother's headstone was at her resting place I hadn't fulfilled her final wishes. Brent and Cypress Granite helped me fulfill my mother's wishes and now I can say she is at her rest and so am I. If anyone was to ask me " What should I do about my loved one headstone?" I would say "Go to Brent at Cypress Granite and tell him what you're feeling, who your loved one was, and what you want their headstone to represent. Then let him guide you through the process and you will with no doubt be completely at joy and peace with the finished results. I believe that the people who aren't happy with Cypress Granite work, it's because they didn't let themselves open up to Brent and didn't listen to his advice. I wanted my mother's headstone to represent life and that exactly what it represents. Thank you Brent and Cypress Granite.”

“I had a really good experience working with Brent on a headstone. He spent a lot of time and attention to detail mocking up the design; he was so patient and communicative to all my questions and concerns through email and phone. I had worked with another company before this, and the waiting period for a few initial responses were painful. I was surprised by how fast the turnaround time for this was (several other places quoted me 9 to 10 months, and for much more money). The pricing at Cypress is reasonable. Getting a headstone made for a loved one is a long, hard and emotional process. I don't think it would have been done as diligently and as delicately anywhere else. I never felt ignored or rushed in the process. I'd recommend working with Brent and his team to anyone in a heartbeat.”

“I would like to express on how wonderful these people were when they took care of my mom and my dad's tombstone. They are extremely patient, courteous and caring. Their prices are affordable and their turnaround was perfect. If you are reading this review, I truly don't understand why most people are eager to only write bad reviews but don't take the time to write when they experience a wonderful one, like we did. I personally would like to give thanks to Mr. Carl and his son for their support and integrity. "Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching."”
