You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I just want to say we were beyond Blessed choosing to go with Evergreen Cemetery and their services for my brother in law's unexpected death. He was a veteran, great husband, and father. Although only 3-4 people attended the service Nidia and her team spared no expense or time. They still went ahead and set it up as if we were expecting 100 people. My brother in law also looked amazing and at peace. My sister even said he looked like he was alive. Overall beyond pleased with this funeral homes service! Thank you Evergreen!!”

“The most frustrating part of my dad's passing is this place. The people who have helped my family and me show no consideration towards us; they only care about money. My dad's vase was stolen, and apparently, multiple vases in his area were stolen by the same culprit. They did not notify us; we had to find out for ourselves when we visited his resting place. The cherry on top is that my family spent a lot of money on his tombstone, including the vase, and it's $ 150 for a PLASTIC one. I understand this is a business, but it is interlocked with people who have lost someone dear to them. It wouldn't hurt to be more personable when we come to you with just complaints. All this money seems wasted, with little to no security and no assistance.”

“We are deeply disappointed with this place as they are all about the money and can care less about your loved ones and your feelings. We visit our mother every Saturday and Monday and recently noticed her vase and beautiful valentines flowers were missing from her moseleum as someone had yanked them off. We didn't purchase the vase or flowers from them. I called and spoke to Francisco Reyes, when I expressed my concerns for my moms destroyed property, he went on and said we have the right to dispose of any item that is not purchased through our network if you read the rules and regulations. I voiced if you all would have said that to me instead of getting us to sign papers at our most vulnerable time as my mom had just passed away the night before and we were just wanting to plan her funeral as I live out of town. Francisco reyes and Edward (which no longer works there), were very insensitive. The only reason why I chose that place was because my mom had purchased her moseleum spot many years ago, when it was named Evergreen. Be aware as you want to purchase for your loved ones as they are all about the dollars. Yes its a busy but at least a heads up to the family before destroying property.”
