You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“They did an incredible job handling the services for my mother, Adeline Coeur, and our family is truly grateful for the care and compassion they showed us during such a difficult time. The entire setup for the funeral was beautiful and done with great attention to detail. They created a peaceful and respectful atmosphere that allowed our family and friends to come together and honor my mother’s life. I also want to give a special thank you to my brother Steve, who did an amazing job preparing my mother. He made her look absolutely beautiful and at peace as she was laid to rest, which brought so much comfort to our family. Gregory B. Levett & Sons truly brought beauty and dignity to a very sad situation. Their professionalism and compassion made a difficult moment much easier to get through. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants their loved one treated with the utmost care and respect.”

“While it's fresh in my mind, I'd like to share that my experience with my arranger, Ms. Simpson was smooth and responsive. The facility is bright, elegant and has up to date technology and plenty of parking. The expectations and schedule were clearly spelled out, the local cemeteries I looked at, were all familiar and experienced with this funeral home. The embalmer, Mr. Bruce, was expert and responsive to small enhancements the family requested, and made our loved one look Beautiful. The graphic artist did a phenomenal job, sometimes working with very old photos, and enhanced all of them to top quality, then produced an elegant program, and video tribute. We had many folks who watched via live stream, and the feedback was VERY positive,so kudos to the team member responsible for that aspect. Mr Reginald's leadership (on Transportation and for the Program and Internment) was on time, lovely and smooth, to and from each of 3 venues, and calm throughout. ALL persons we interfaced with, before and during the Memorial Day, were professional, warm, and on point. Ms.Theresa was a calm and caring chauffeur, and presented important parting media materials at drop off. From the time our loved one was collected after death, to being lowered into the grave, the entire team at GB Levett was truly a pleasure to work with, and made a Huge difference in this major time of Loss. Many Thanks!”

“I lost my adult son, unexpectedly. One of the worst things I have ever endured. The actual funeral home was excellent and really deserved 5+stars. Unfortunately, there was one person who left a bad taste due to her lack of follow through. The rest of the staff listened to my concerns and made things right. Just some of the staff that were exemplary include both Theresas (the limo driver and the employee at the funeral home); Julia; "everyone" at the front desk; Menyon; the escorts provided for the funeral, and Mr. Jenkins. However, Mr. Bruce Johnson was absolutely outstanding, bar none. Bruce's professionalism, care and insight were immeasurable. It is hard to explain the presence that Mr. Bruce provided. Some people just have discernment, and kindness that can't be explained. Bruce remembered me even months later. You know that you genuinely matter. I would and have recommended Gregory B Levett and this particular location. I would definitely use them again.”
