You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This man can't be of the Lord, you is in the wrong field and so glad my Brother isn't there anymore and I could not sleep with him there! You wouldn't give the other Funeral home my Brother body because our Family decided not to go with your horrible service! You cause my Brother body to start to decompose because of your nonsense by withholding his body from the other funeral home. Why!!?? Because they just came and picked another body up from Y'all days before?? My Brother has nothing to do with your that!! I pray that he can look as close as possible to himself because of your negligence,Shame on you for that!!! Then you done some messy, unprofessional mess by trying to start choas by telling a Family member what another said because we didn't keep his body there. What you told could have started alot of trouble and you ain't nothing but trouble! May God have Mercy on your soul!! I wouldn't recommend a animal to be laid to rest by you. You caused our Family more grieving and pain!!! I wouldn't give you any stars but had to push one in order to leave a review. Please listen to me everyone, DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVE ONES THERE!!”

“I used JT Funeral Services for my mother-in-law almost 2 years ago and have been meaning to leave a review but only thought to do so when I just recommended them to someone else. We only used the cremation services and obituary, etc., as per her wishes, but they made it SO easy to do everything. We never even had to go to the office. We did all the forms and payment (extremely reasonable in comparison to others) online. They had the death certificates delivered to us and a few days later, a gentlemen in nice vehicle and attire came to our home to present us with her remains. For not having gone to their establishment, it was a first class experience and very quick and easy. My husband and I really appreciated the simplicity of their services during a very difficult time. I would defintely use them again. Thank you all for your assistance. It could not have gone smoother.”

“Horrible experience, maybe if you are a traditional Christian you will have a better experience. Laying your loved one to rest is hard enough- they refused to accommodate our preferred song selections and basically told us which ones they would do. The chapel was reserved for a 2 hour service- we were rushed out in less than 30 minutes. They refused to wait for family members to arrive and began the service when myself and siblings were not even seated yet. It felt rushed, impersonal, and the program we put together as required was not followed. No one was allowed to speak in spite of there being a space for that on the schedule for the ceremony, and most disrespectful of all my mothers obituary was not read. It was extremely impersonal, stressful, rushed, and disrespectful.”
