You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“On January 3rd, my wife and I made the difficult decision of putting our beloved chihuahua, Daisy, to sleep. Although heartbroken we wanted to give our little girl the chance to be remembered and mourned as she lived by having a small funeral for her before cremating her remains. Gamez pet cremations offered what we needed and proceeded to walk us through the options we chose. Melanie detailed what our package would entail and assured us the entire time that Daisy’s remains would be carefully watched over. She let us view and handle the different urns and specified how customizable the nameplate could be to our wishes. She handled the slide presentation and we provided the many photos and videos that were shown. The day of we were immediately shown where our pet was displayed along with a dress we had provided for her to wear. Although overwhelmed with emotions we were endeared with her peacefulness and serenity that Gamez gave her. My wife was allowed to place fresh flowers around Daisy's body and display some of her personal effects and photo frames on a small table that was provided. Every friend and family member who came to say their goodbyes and give condolences were amazed with the entire parlor and loved the slide presentation as we cried and laughed together while reliving and sharing many of our tiny princess memories with everyone. Throughout this difficult process we were seen and heard by Gamez. Respect for our loss was very important to our grieving process and it was certainly given at their facility & staff. Some might say that this was unnecessary but as a family unit, we needed this to help provide closure to the life of our first and final little Daisy. We’d would also like to acknowledge Natalie and Feliciano and all of the wonderful souls who make up Gamez & Sons Funeral Home who without this service wouldn’t have been as special and meaningful for us and our loved one.”

“I have done two cremations with Gamez and both of my experiences went smoothly. The staff is very kind, compassionate and attentive. Both times my pets passed unexpectedly late in the night and we were serviced with a lot of patience and respect. Our puggies were treated with love and care. I highly recommend Gamez.”
