You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Wont be in business for long for sure! God don’t bless no mess!! Playing with people love ones!!! Just horrible!!!! Unless they possibly get rid of Roy Peterson! He was so nasty to my family while we were grieving trying to bury my mother. we’ve never been through this before and instead of being emphatic, professional, informative, prompt, understanding and helpful he was very rude and unconcerned. He lied to us about everything rushed our mothers service and was so cold towards us! Gave us the run around for weeks, ignored calls while my mother laid in their “cooler” even told us to just “dispose” of her! I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life ! A complete nightmare!! My 76 year old father couldn’t even grieve because they made this process so horrible! This funeral home has potential but needs to get a new director who is more professional! This self ordained “pastor” Roy cursed like a sailor and was only about making a dollar! We were so embarrassed! He had us sign a contract and scheduled us on a Saturday just to tell us last minute we couldn’t do it after having family get plane tickets, and booking a repast, made us wait changed our date, he Had us do an order of program and didn’t follow, didn’t allow family and friends there minutes of being able to speak a word on behalf of my dear mother, Even told one of the employees there we couldn’t have music because we didn’t “pay” for it, told us we would have a family car but then day of , we find out we had to drive, the list goes on how deceptive and hurtful he was to us!!! Thank God this is over but I really regret doing my mom service here! Being that my mom is from Alabama and we live in Atlanta we drove back and forth for days just to be treated like trash!! As soon as I find out the information for the board of funeral services I will me making a complaint and also going over our documents because we was charged for a Saturday and ended up having it on a Thursday. I was just at peace that this nightmare is over but I see sooo many others whose experience this same issue so I will take a stand for us all!! I don’t wish this experience on my worst enemy!”

“They picked my brother up from the morgue and never called to tell us that they had his body. A week later when we went in for payment they tell us that they are unable to embalm the body. Had we not gone there to make payment we would not have been told that then. It was a holiday weekend and all they could say was there was miscommunication and offer apologies. Also, after having the body for a week we were not able to view him. I want to report them but my dad asked that i not. But I am leaving this review to warn people of thier level of service. Alss don't let them make you feel like you are getting a deal because you get what you pay for and if you don't pay for it they definitely don't deliver. It was already a horrible occasion and this experience made it much worse.”

“Eastside took care of the services for my family member in April. They were unprofessional. Did not take pride in the presentation of the body and were argumentative when confronted about the presentation. They did not even initially take to time to cover imperfections or comb hair. They were rude to the mother and lacked empathy. Would strongly not recommend. The pastor used profanity when speaking with our family in several instances.”
