“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Ms. Maury & the staff of AD Porter, as a whole helped me during the process of my father's homegoing. I'm very appreciative of the care & kindness they have shown, not just for my father but for me & my family as well.”

“Maury and AD Porters’ entire staff handled the arrangements for my mother with the utmost care and respect. They picked her up from the hospital in a timely manner, gave me a day to get my emotions in check before making arrangements, gave me list verbally of the documents and items (clothing, wig, etc) that I would need to bring in followed by printed handouts that detailed the exact clothing items I would need. They helped me write the obituary for the newspaper, made sure the cost worked in my budget. Maury gave me pricing options for a funeral with burial as well a funeral with cremation. She also provided a list of all the 3rd party costs so that I had a complete dollar amount to present to my family. The service was great but what really stood was the eye for detail. When I brought in the underwear and dress, Maury made sure the pattern in the underclothes wouldn’t show through the dress. When discussing when the money was due, Maury clearly and politely explained when the Company expected payment. From now I will only use AD Porter for this type of service.”
