“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Trujillo Family Funeral did an amazing job with my father’s obituary and funeral. The embalming was excellent. We used French Funeral home for my mother. Both were good experiences but this was 1/4 of the price. My Dad also looked more natural. Highly recommend, especially for Veterans.”

“My grandmother pre-planned and fully paid for her arrangements with Trujillo Funeral Service specifically to make things easier on our family. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but. She had arranged a direct cremation and prepaid for multiple certified death certificates. After she passed, hospice contacted Trujillo to pick up her body, which they did on 12/21/25. Two days later, I received additional paperwork from their funeral services intern, Susan, requesting information for the death certificate. I completed and returned everything promptly. There was no confirmation that it was received, no acknowledgment, and no indication that anything was missing. Communication was consistently poor. When I asked about prayer cards and an obituary, I was told samples would be sent—without any mention of needing to come in person. Nothing was sent until two weeks later, and only after I followed up regarding the missing death certificates. When the samples were finally sent, they were photos of other families’ prayer cards sitting on top of a trash can, which looked extremely unprofessional and careless. I also wrote and sent a thoughtful, well-structured obituary to Susan to be posted on Trujillo’s website, as previously discussed. The original obituary had 13 clearly separated paragraphs, each intentional and meaningful. When it was posted, all spacing had been removed, turning it into one long run-on paragraph. After reviewing other obituaries on their website—which clearly maintained spacing and distinct paragraphs—I emailed requesting it be posted as originally sent. Instead of correcting it properly, it was edited again and only two paragraphs were added, further demonstrating a lack of attention to detail and professionalism. It was later revealed that the death certificates had never even been ordered. Ultimately, the certificates were not ready until 1/26/26, more than five weeks after Trujillo received my grandmother’s body, despite being told the process typically takes 10–14 days. Despite being my grandmother’s caregiver, holding POA, serving as executor, and managing all arrangements, I was told that because I had called multiple times for updates, Trujillo and its owners decided to cancel the death certificate order entirely and told me to reorder them through the state myself. This was shocking, unprofessional, and added unnecessary burden during an already painful time. To work around this, my father (next of kin) had to place the order and plan a four-hour round trip to pick them up. Even then, he was never notified when they were ready and had to call for updates himself, at which point staff said they could not find them. Meanwhile, the church and cemetery were unable to schedule services because the death certificates were unavailable. During this same time, other family friends passed away and were able to have services and be buried well before my grandmother through other funeral homes, making the delays in our case even more troubling. A funeral home should reduce stress during grief, not create chaos, delays, and additional trauma. I wish Trujillo Funeral Service had shown more care and respect for the recently departed and for the families left to handle these arrangements. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend them.”

“Our family recently lost one of our beloved ones and not being from the Albuquerque area we searched many different places to honor our sister in her passing. One place only dealt with you electronically, but when I called Trujillo funeral I was immediately at peace while talking with Felicia. I knew right away my sister would be honored using their services. She was so kind and explained everything to me, as I have never been the one making these decisions for anyone before. She made it easy, and I knew whole heartedly they truly care and honor the process of which they are doing. It is not an easy process to he going through and right in the beginning your emotions on high and there’s a lot to be responsible for right away. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Trujillo family again and would recommend them to anyone wading through these difficult circumstances.”
