“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I first want to start off by responding to everyone talking about the upkeep of the grounds. I also do upkeep on a cemetery in another State and I know people want everything to look nice when they go but since my grandparents been buried there this place has been overwhelmed with new burials. Please remember it's very time consuming to cut and trim around all those stones. Not to mention it takes a toll on your body. They are doing the best they can to keep it looking beautiful. Also remember while your home in a nice cool house. These guys are busting butt to keep you happy. So next time you see these guys working. THANK THEM and don't complain”

“I absolutely love this cemetery but there is a issue with things being stolen, someone stole from my 6 year old daughters grave. I make my little girl beautiful wreaths and vase arrangements for every holiday and every season and make sure they are secured to her stone and yet some lowlife, heartless person keeps taking them. I also bought her a beautiful led candle ran by solar and today I went there and that was stolen. This makes me sick. As I was leaving tonight I stopped and spoke to security and he stated to me “ you aren’t the first, I’ve got a lot of complaints from other families that things are being taking” this is extremely heartbreaking to families and I only hope they up the security or add cameras”

“I buried my son last year in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. What was once a beautiful place is now a depressing and neglected resting place. Section 12 is particularly unkempt. I just moved back to RI. My heart ached that both my mother and beloved son are buried here. The Catholic Diocese must do better. UPDATE: I returned for a visit less than a week later. A heartfelt thank you for hearing my concerns. Not only my son's grave, but also the surrounding section, had been attended to. Thank you for making my heart a bit lighter today!”
