You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I highly recommend Lifetime Celebrations by Washelli. The staff is both professional and accommodating, ensuring a smooth and respectful experience. I want to give special recognition to Funeral Director Venice Harris-Quade, whose support and guidance were invaluable from the moment I inquired about pricing. On the day of the service, she went above and beyond to make sure the chapel was immaculate and thoughtfully arranged, and she made sure our chosen playlist was played exactly as we requested.”

“I was arranging mortuary services in a situation where a simple cremation was the best option. Although Lifetime offers a wide range of services, they did not try to upsell me, they understood my situation. The related paperwork was processed very quickly. This is necessary to obtain the death certificate, and start legal matters related to the estate. I have worked with another mortuary in the past where this took over a month, instead of around a week at Lifetime. So, the key points of service were excellent. The staff was attentive, professional, and caring. In this situation I would use them again without a doubt.”

“Venice and the team at Lifetime Celebrations were wonderful. They handled the first part of the arrangements for my father who was to be cremated here in WA State and then remains sent to a mortuary in California, and then handled for his final resting. I thought it would be rather complicated, but it was not. Venice walked me through everything, handled all of the details with respect and dignity and was very communicative to the team down in California. One thing that I really want to commend is the evening my Father did pass, at his Adult Family Home, Felix from Lifetime Celebrations was the person who collected my Father, he was so respectful and was very polite and wanted to make sure we had proper time to be alone with him or do any blessings. He was also explaining to me each step he was taking and what he would be doing. I thought he was lovely and made a very sad and highly emotional moment very peaceful. I thank him for that.”
