“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“After losing my father unexpectedly two weeks ago, I was at a loss on what to do, where to turn for funeral services, and how the process would work. Family suggested I turn to Tonya Dean of Dean's Funeral Home and I'm so grateful that I did. Tonya and her husband Scott made the process as painless and straightforward as possible, worked within my budget to offer a proper celebration of life for my father, and moved quickly behind the scenes to alleviate my heartache and let me focus on grieving. Like all things in life, finances were a concern and Deans was by far the most affordable option. Cost aside, they were kind, compassionate, and gentle at a time when it was needed most. The brunch we asked to have offered to mourners was wonderfully prepared and laid out with staff to help serve, ample room was provided to allow conversations and grieving, and any accommodations requested were quickly met with grace. Any leftover food was packaged and set aside to be delivered to those in need within the community, a final lovely gesture that my father would have loved. If you find yourself in need of funeral planning, either in preparedness or during your time of tragedy, The Deans will take care of you. I cannot recommend them enough.”

“Dean's funeral home handled loved ones my parents in 2021 and 2023 and we got great service and very compassionate about each families and persons needs and was helpful and walked us through the whole process. It is already a hard time losing someone ,but they made it easier at the time ,answered questions and was very supportive in our families needs at our hardest times. It takes a special kind of family to care for our loved ones at the end of life care as last responders. Great funeral home and great staff.”

“Losing our mother was one of the hardest experiences my sisters and I have ever faced. The day after she passed away at the hospital in Atlanta, we found the courage to call Dean Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio, because our mom’s final wish was to be buried alongside her mother in Alliance, Ohio. From the very first conversation, Latanya Dean treated us with compassion, professionalism, and an incredible sense of urgency. Although our mom passed in Georgia, Latanya and the team at Dean Funeral Service handled every single detail to make sure her wishes were honored. They coordinated with a mortuary in Georgia, arranged transportation to Ohio, and worked closely with the cemetery and the church where we held the service. They also organized the limo procession to the interment, helped with flowers, ordered the death certificates, printed beautiful memorial cards, and prepared the obituary. What meant the most to us was their constant support. Latanya was always available to answer our questions, guide us through decisions, and make sure every detail reflected what our mother would have wanted. During such a painful time, they made an overwhelming process feel manageable and dignified. We truly could not be more grateful for the care, respect, and dedication shown by Dean Funeral Home. They went far above and beyond for our family, and because of them, we were able to give our mother the farewell she deserved. We wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone who needs compassionate and professional care during a difficult time.”
