You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“During such a difficult time, all of us girls found our kindred spirit. His name is Chad!! We instantly felt comfortable in his presence and we also felt understood and cared for. We felt the true kindness of his heart. Chad made sure we understood everything he presented and encouraged us to take our time. The behind the scenes responsibilities were taken care of by Chad himself. He stayed in contact with me all the way to the end. I never doubted this entire process and I am thankful to not have had that extra burden. We all didn't know it at the time, but we needed Chad that night. We sure did. I will speak for the entire group of us when I say that we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts all the way to the tippy top.”

“I would like to give a shout out to Chad at Mundy FH. Our son died suddenly 2 weeks ago today and we were totally lost as to where to start . He was just shy of 43 y/o, we knew he wanted cremation, but he lived in SC. He was a " no frills" kind of guy and we just showed up at Mundy Wednesday afternoon and Chad was still there. Even though we couldn't use Mundy, because we didn't want our son to cross state lines, Chad was so, so helpful connecting us with a FH in S. Carolina that he had worked with before. I can't say enough about his kindness and willingness to help us in our grief journey. Even though we were not able to use his services, he helped us and was a living example of Christ's love to his fellow man. Thank u Chad and may God bless u and your family! R& T Mercer”

“The Mundy Funeral Home took care of my husband Steve Roberts arrangements and from start to finish was amazing. Ruth, Joyce and I went to Chad to get Steve’s head stone as well. It was up in under a month! Thank you for everything!”
