Questions to Ask When You Call
You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

What Families Say
“We want to extend our sincere and grateful appreciation to JJ Duffy for their outstanding support during this difficult time. Jeff and his team went well above and beyond expectations. They were very detailed and responsive throughout the planning process. The personal touches including the memorial video, display, and booklet were amazing. Thank you for making this a special occasion in memory/honor of our father.”

“I have availed myself to Duffy at two different times and have been very satisfied with their service both times. Most recently my mother passed away. Duffy was caring and compassionate. Jeff was very responsive and helpful. On the day of the funeral, Jeff and Justine were there and provided excellent guidance and communication from start to finish. I highly recommend Duffy.”

“If I had to recommend a Funeral Home. It would be them! They took such great care of me and the service for my dad! Their compassion and empathy shows through the way they handle their business. Everyone within that funeral home is kind and welcoming. They took care of every detail and the service was beautiful! I’ve received several cards in the mail from them. Including a birthday card for my dad. Growing up in Cumberland I’ve been to JJ Duffy a few times and having to experience it on the opposite side was a different type of feeling. I will never go see anyone else for these services again.”
