You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Our issues are still in motion as its been almost a month since my dad died. I write this review, even though this is my reality. I wish it wasn't. Everyone is unique, aren't they? My dad was a rare breed. No one was like him. He took care of a will over 20 years before he died and he essentially paid for his funeral with cd's that were written in the name of the MB funeral home. He was ahead of his time. The tough part in this is that what existed 20 years ago in banking and cds has changed. And the world is crazier and more upside down than it ever was. This is where Molthen Bell shines most. My sister and I sat down with Jeremy Brown to discuss the funeral and arrangements. It was a perfect scenario, given the circumstances. My sister had taken care of my dad up to his last breath. Now it was my turn to take care of the aftermath of a life long-lived and unique. Jeremy was an excellent listener. We are so grateful that he was not in the business of selling us anything we didn't want. He agreed to all the things we desired, which were few. He even admitted that the numbers were not quite right and brought us back for another day after he fixed things. He consistently followed through and was also an excellent communicator. We never have had to wonder what was going on because we felt that our dealings with MB were above board. In this extenuating circumstance, that continues due to issues with the bank releasing funds (no fault of MB), we found that the compassion and care we were given were just what we needed. The staff were there if we needed them but we could do as much as we wanted to, even rearranging furniture and playing the piano on site (which is one nice instrument, if I must say so myself!). We felt that our dealings with MB have exhibited a professionalism as well as a mercy and grace that are much needed in a time of shock, loss, and the confusion that goes with dealing with the death of a parent. It's something we have never done. I write all this because it's important for you to have what you need when you need it when your loved one dies. Molthen Bell and the staff were and continue to be the wind beneath our wings as we walk out the aftermath of loss. My sister and I are grateful for the attention to detail, even to the point where the dozen roses that I forgot at the funeral home showed up when it was time to bury my dad at the cemetery. Talk about perfect timing. We will all experience loss. I would heartily recommend MB Funeral Home to be there to figuratively hold your hand and guide you through. Thank you.”

“Our beloved son died at the age of 12. Although no parent should ever need to plan a funeral for their child, the entire staff at Molthen-Bell Bell made the process as simple as possible. From the pre planning with Alex to the staff who came to our home when my son died, to the Director Stacey and everyone else, I can not say enough of the care and compassion. My only request was to not pipe in “funeral music” during the visitation portion. My son lived in a fantasy land where the characters of the movie “Frozen” was very real to him. Imagine this mamas heart when I walked into the funeral home which was transformed into a Winter Wonderland complete with a Frozen backdrop, a Christmas tree, snowballs and hanging snowflakes. ALL for my boy. I did not ask for this, I did not supply the items, this was done out of the kindness of the staff. Every person has gone above and beyond. I am truly grateful to Molthen Bell’s dedication to their honorable profession.”

“The staff at Molthen-Bell were extremely helpful with the sudden passing of my sister. They walked me through the process with compassion and understanding. I feel Sam went above and beyond to make this happen. Thank you vary much Sam.”
