“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“On Monday Nov 15, 2021 our family met at Roselyn Funeral Home to place the ashes of our beloved Mother in the mausoleum. The family spent nearly an hour setting up the niche which included several religious items that had special meaning to the family. All of the items were carefully selected and were of high quality. The niche was closed by Roselawn employees prior to the family departing. The following morning we stopped by for a visit prior to heading back back home out of state. Upon seeing the niche we discovered four items had been removed without our knowledge or consent which caused my wife to suffer immediate emotional distress. Upon talking with staff we were told we were limited to five items to avoid having the niche look “junked” up. We we never told we were limited to five items. We consider the items removed to be sacred personal affects and that the niche to be hollowed space. The staff was argumentative and unapologetic. At the very least we should have been consulted first in an attempt to reach a resolution agreeable to both parties. Our family feels violated and this has added undue stress on top of the grief of losing a loved one. Attached is a picture of the niche as we left it Monday afternoon.”

“I went today to get my parents vase to bring home to clean it and put new flowers in it for Memorial Day and the grass was awful. Looked like it hasn't been mowed in many weeks. I was very disappointed at the maintenance of the cemetery. I called the office and they told me the maintenance crew quit on them and a new company started today. That is our families last reating place and we all paid enough money to this company it should be manicured to the best. Very disappointed Roselawn. Went back today to place flowers on my parents and 4 other family members graves. The grass had not been touched as high as it was on Thursday. The cemetery has gone to pot under the "NEW MANAGEMENT ". They need to get a company in there who cares about the people of our community instead of wanting to make a buck on the expense of bereavement. We are thinking selling our plots that we have bought 30 years ago and move to another cemetery. Roselawn Cemetery is a joke. Thinking when they would come in our town and put the hometown funeral homes out of business. Big laugh Roselawn.”

“My sisters memorial services were held here today (1/24/2025) and I could not have been more grateful. The staff were pleasant and had everything beautifully arranged. The staff were extremely welcoming to us and the visitors. The funeral director, Jami was amazing and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and feel welcomed. We couldn’t have asked for a better memorial. Thank you all for your support and genuine kindness.”
