You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I really don't know we're to start at...this is the most money hungry funeral home my grandma did not have insurance at all. My family and I talked to Mr woods son about what we can do for my grandma since she didn't have insurance he was very unprofessional at the point we couldn't get a understanding of what was best for her. After a week later the family came with a agreement with what we want to do for her. I just don't like anything they did for her we did not get a family car. He told us that would been 300$ then the hearse they gave us was soo OLD. So ugly just wrong. We didn't have a police escort at all the way they made her face I didn't even know who my grandma was at all and from this day our family does not know we're she buried at asked the funeral home many times seems like they don't care as long they got the money I'm guessing they straight 11/07/1956-08/23/2025 sorry grandma wished you picked another funeral home u wanted to go too because theses people should be shut down still don't know what the caused of your death it been 3 months now”

“This is hands down the worst funeral home. I have ever visited the customer service is nasty. We bought flowers and had them delivered. I had to go in and set them up in vases myself. After I did that, they decided they was going to give them to someone else after. I verified and told them that these was from my family. The guy got in my face and was so nasty that the people standing by me was visibly upset, and he did not care The roaches unbelievable. Four in the bathroom, walking across the mirror one in the ceiling in the chapel, the smell in the building matches the attitude of some of the staff...”

“Dealing with this funeral home was a NIGHTMARE. I wish I could give them negative stars. They were extremely unprofessional and no one communicated with each other. This was a time of mourning for my brother but we were bombarded with calls for information that we had already provided to them several times. Mary Woods lied to my family about the total amount of the services, she charged my Dad double the amount I paid for my Mom's funeral just a short time ago. She never sent us the "amended" receipt she said she would. The receipt that she said would show services were paid in full that we requested for over a week and she still has not. I have personally talked to Mary Woods 4 times and have been getting the run around by her each time. Now she refuses to respond to me. My son tried to come and shave my brother but got the run around for 3 days then they called my Dad asking where my son was when no one told him when or if he could come. The viewing was set to start at 9a but the body was not delivered to the church until after 9:30a and to top everything off, my brother's body had an odor of decay. They tried to cover it up by asking my other brother for cologne (not knowing who he was). Later another employee came to the casket, made everyone wait, lifted up the lining, and put something under the body to cover the smell, it was nauseating (my Aunt and my Sister was sitting there watching). His body was seeping fluid between his lips.... Mary Woods had the audacity to say that the odor is normal after a body is "out" for over 10 days. My 80 yr old Dad was stressed and mentally tired dealing with these people. He wasn't even able to sleep nor rest. And I overheard another family having an issue with them as well... AS LONG AS THE CURRENT STAFF ESPECIALLY THAT WOMAN MRS MARY WOODS IS THERE, I WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO BURY MY DOG!!!”
