You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The people that work for this company are extremely unprofessional and very hostile when it comes to complaints, I had very respectfully called to talk to a supervisor due to an experience with a woman who spoke down to me (old, slightly overweight, light brown short hair with bangs) and was extremely rude to the point where I was hysterically crying. I called to report this in which the same woman answered the phone and right away was aggressive and hostile, I then asked for her name in which she responded “don’t worry about my name” then hung up the phone. When I called the second time a male answered, in which I kindly and respectfully asked if their was a supervisor I could speak to, he confirmed he was the owner and when I explained the situation (in tears). he quickly responded aggressively with “do not call here again and do not come here again.” I was spoken to as if I weren’t human and as if I had made this complaint up, I was so extremely disturbed by this experience and I warn anyone who is reading this to stay far far away from this company. They are not worth your time and money. Keep your loved ones safe these people were aggressive when talking to me.”

“This company is so unprofessional. For the crazy high price my family expected so much more. Once Michael had our money, he and his employees attitudes towards my grieving mother and I completely changed. They told her to “be quiet” well she was sobbing about my father’s passing.”
— Pluto Wave
“These people are really professional in a tough time. We had a smooth experience. Thank You”
