You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Reginald, Rita and Vydelia were absolutely amazing to work with. Throughout the entire week of preparation, they responded to my emails and calls quickly and efficiently. They managed to meet all of my requests and do the majority of the work. The location and building are beautiful, well maintained and a lovely place to host family and friends for such an occasion. I felt like they really cared about making my grandmothers funeral as perfect as I wanted. I hope I don’t have to do this again anytime but I know when it’s time for my grandfather to join my grandmother in heaven, these three will make the process just as smooth and efficient as it was this last week. Sincerely thank you Reginald, Rita and Vydelia. Absolutely amazing job.”

“Compassionate Care and service with Dignity is what one should expect when speaking with a Cemetery Service counselor. It shouldn’t be about how much they can sell you. Rather, about selling what is best for you. I’ve gone to a few places where it was more the former than the latter. Not so with Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, led by the dynamic Kineta Lewis. I am sure she and the team makes the Hispana Market proud. It has been said as the Leader goes, the team follows. There is a manager on her team who deserves a shout out. Her name is Andretta Kessel. Even with having to train several new employees (rookies), she dedicated quality time with my family on prearrangements suited for us. Her, time, effort, sincerity and compassion will go a long way. If you are in need of that kind of excellent service, look no further. #DignityMemorial #Sci #BrooksideMemorialPark #Hispana”

“Brookside is gorgeous and the staff is so professional! Chris Bond, Flavia, and the director were all amazing! My grandma had a beautiful service! The chapel of chimes was gorgeous which is where we had my grandmothers service, but you have so many (rooms)options to choose from. We did releasing of the doves and it was absolutely breathtaking. I’m so thankful that we found this place. I can’t thank Brookside enough and I know my grandma would have been so happy.”
